Who is APJ Abdul Kalam?
APJ Abdul Kalam full name Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was an Indian scientist and politician who served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He was born on October 15 1931 in Rameswaram Tamil Nadu and passed away on July 27 2015.
Kalam was known as the "Missile Man of India" due to his significant contributions to India's missile and nuclear weapons programs particularly as a project director of India's first satellite launch vehicle (SLV-III) and later as the chief of the country's defense research and development organization (DRDO).
He played a crucial role in the development of India's indigenous guided missile program including the Agni and Prithvi missiles. Kalam's scientific and technological expertise led to his involvement in several important defense projects.
